The Dummies Guide to Honor: Jesus takes a hard look at society’s notion of honor and shame, who is in and who is out, who is up and who is down, and as usual, he is turning it all upside down. He calls us to look at who is not here and find ourselves in their sandals. Jesus is showing us an image of a table where no one has a place of honor because everyone is honored. It is God that extends the invitation to show us this radical hospitality.

Christianity has never been about being a toothless religion, nor does the bible speaks about living a comfortable life. There is a cost to being a disciple. What did Jesus mean when he said he came to bring fire to the earth? What is demanded of us this night? Can the fire of Pentecost stir up our faith and conviction to do God's work in Christ's name for the sake of the world?
